VA Exhibition in the AAAD Gallery

In October 2008 Milena Dopitová, the Visual Arts tutor, started planning an exhibition of works by Visual Arts students in the AAAD gallery which is located in the main building of the school, in the very heart of the Old Town. All VA students launched their exhibition projects in the framework of the main theme “Vanities of Vanities” and consulted them in the classes of Team Project and interdisciplinary Dialogues. Christian Bulmahn (Germany), a Visual Arts student from the Studio of Graphic Design and Visual Communication, designed the first version of the exhibition catalogue (proklik na Fist Version of VA Catalogue).
In November 2008 VA students succeeded in an open competition and were rented the AAAD gallery for May exhibition 2009. Apart from working in their own “home” studios, producing their final winter term projects (“klauzura”), and conducting various exhibitions outside of AAAD, the VA students continued working and discussing their projects for the May exhibition twice a week during all the summer term 2009.
In February 2009 the title of the planned May exhibition was changed to “Zoom In”. However, ”Vanity of Vanities” remained the uniting theme for all exhibited work. VA students focused on final models of their exhibition projects.

After three hard days of Installing in the AAAD gallery (proklik na Zoom In Installation), the VA students successfully opened their exhibition called “Zoom – In” on Wednesday 6th May 2009 at 6pm. The opening presented the work of 11 VA students in mixed medias: photography, video, performance, installation, design and sculpture. The exhibition was opened by the AAAD` s rector speech and visited not only by the AAAD students and their teachers but also by a big number of people from outside the
school. The Zoom-In project has been already visited by 1000 people.
