Department of Fine Arts
The Department of Fine Arts was founded after 1990 and covers education in traditional visual arts. It is divided in studios led by significant artists and teachers, who have been active at the Academy throughout its history. Fine arts disciplines are developed in relation to other schools specialized in fine arts disciplines on one hand, and in relation to the departments of applied art and design at the Academy on the other. Creative studio leaders together with an interdisciplinary dialogue create a specific potential for the study of fine arts disciplines. Inseparable part of the studies are lectures and seminars on history of art, esthetics and social sciences, through which students learn about the history of their disciplines and acquire basic knowledge in the field of humanities. The work in studios accentuates contextual thinking, develops a dialogue between artistic work and nature, space, architecture, history and social processes. Apart from the specific courses in studios, the department also offers training in figure drawing, sculpture and digital media technologies.

Josef Václav Myslbek, Jakub Schikaneder, František Ženíšek, Stanislav Sucharda, Jan Preisler, Ladislav Šaloun, Josef Mařatka, Otto Gutfreund, Jan Lauda, Jan Bauch, Emil Filla, Josef Kaplický, Josef Wagner, Alois Fišárek, Bedřich Stefan, František Tichý, Jan Kavan and others.
The Department of Fine Arts comprises the Studio of Sculpture (headed by prof. ak. soch. Kurt Gebauer, assistant professors Ivana Junková, Dagmar Šubrtová; deputy head MgA. Krištof Kintera, assistant Monika Havlíčková), Studio of Painting (headed by doc. Stanislav Diviš, MgA. Aldin Popaja), Intermedia Confrontation Studio (headed by doc. ak. mal. Jiří David, assistant professor MgA. Milan Salák) and the Supermedia Studio (headed by MgA. Federico Díaz, assistant Mgr. David Kořínek).
